Neocapitalism, cultural globalisation, the representation systems of current society and the scourges generated by such phenomena as the advertising plug in which we are permanently victimised, are some of the serious subjects the artist approaches and examines by means of a frequently bold photographic dialogue
The first impact is quite obviously chromatic and structural: the remarkable artistic mastery of the photo compositions leads one to quickly realise that she began her artistic career in painting.
The second shock comes from the message: Carmen Arrabal is undeniably an artist who is engaged. She drags us straight to the heart of the matter, opening up the discussion of thorny and controversial subjects. Her works concern violence against women, war and religion, dehumanisation generated by the proliferation of hard-core pornography and that resulting from capricious aesthetic surgery or even from the uniformization of thought dictated by progress.
